Pyropolis Volunteer Conscription

Many people find that they have a hard time committing to volunteering prior to the event. So many opportunities, it can be difficult to know where to go or what to do! Want to pitch in at Flipside but are hesitant to commit in advance or unsure of what is needed? That’s where Pyropolis Volunteer Conscription (P*V*C), formerly known as Help Desk, can help you help Flipside.
We will be staffed by talented conscription agents of who will match you and your skills with the many interesting projects around Pyropolis. Welcome incoming participants at the Greeters Station, help keep the roads clear in Parking, or save the planet with the Earth Guardians. There are boundless possibilities to get involved, and meet other Flipizens. Volunteering is a meaningful (and FUN) way to participate in this event organized and run entirely by you, the volunteers.
P*V*C is located in the Grove, on the Upper Field, and will be open daily from mid-morning to dusk. Look for the T*I*K*I I*N*F*O boards, we're right behind them!
WE CAN DO IT! (with some help): Love volunteering and wish to share your enthusiasm? Shifts are available for conscription agents to man PVC. A few people have asked about this and I'll be sending an email out shortly to everyone who signs up ...
- Let's get all of the shifts covered and so you're not alone, two people per shift. If there is an influx of volunteers in the next few days, tripling up would be fine but at this moment (5/14/08) I'd like to make sure that there is someone for all of the open shifts.
- There will be 2 meetings, to discuss and go over exactly what we'll be doing during our shifts:
Thursday 5/22/08 at 7:00 pm at PVC
Friday 5/23/08 at 7:00 pm at PVC
If you are volunteering on Thursday, I will meet with you before your shift and will go over it at that point.

[edit] Descriptions of Positions
Day Leads: You will be responsible for contacting specific leads at Flipside to determine what sort of needs they have that day. Also, you will check in during shift changes to ensure that P*V*C is staffed for each shift. This person would have good radio skills, is responsible and knows some of the other leads. Shoot Gyesika an email if you'd like to take a day lead position.
Conscription Agents: You get to hang out in the Grove and welcome visitors, answer questions about volunteering, and match people with opportunities that are available. You will also need to check the T*I*K*I I*N*F*O boards periodically and restock them with paper and staples.
