Austin, TX (Kit O'Connell, Web Content Lead) -- This weekend promises to be a full one beginning Friday night with the Little Black Dress Party, a fundraiser for Ouroboros, the Flipside community's offering to CORE. On Saturday night, area circus arts performers along with the Vespertine Circus, a visiting troup, present Free CircX For the People at the Warehouse. Together, these events promise more fun then spending your days off playing video games or watching cartoons on the Internet.
CORE is an ambitious project to simultaneously burn 23 effigies submitted by regional Burn events from around the world; you can read more about it on our CORE page. In addition to a Kickstarter, there will be several fundraising events events. The next is the Little Black Dress Party being held starting 9pm on Friday at a private home in South Austin. All attendees of any gender must wear a little black dress, or else. There will be music, shenanigans, and "bottomless Ouroboros collector's mugs." Suggested donation for attending this party begins at $20. To RSVP email volunteer@flipsidecoreproject.com or visit the Flipside Core Project events page for more info.
Who Said Vaudeville Is Dead?, an entertainment company run by the Flipizen known as Lil' Bit, will host FREE CircX 4 The People at the Warehouse Saturday evening from 5pm until 10pm. This event is free with donations encouraged, and features clowning, aerial acts, and other circus arts by the visiting Vespertine Circus and many local performers along with music and dancing. But Lil' Bit needs our help: volunteers are encouraged to stay after the event to help with break down, or to come Friday night from 6pm to 9pm to help clear a field and set up the circus tents. For more information see our Event Calendar or the Vaudeville Is Dead? blog.
