The Tiki Totems

This year, there will be 10 tiki totems surrounding our beautiful effigy. The totems will be composed of 3 steel drums (burn barrels) welded on top of one another, They will be lit internally and have fire shooting from their top. Each of these totems will represent a different year of Flipside, and be cut and decorated with images/ideas/themes from that year.

The Call for Artists!

VERY IMPORTANT - Deadline to respond to this call for artists is April 5!

Here's where you come in. This is a call for artists who would like to help design the decoration for the totems. The decoration can be anything you'd like that symbolizes that year. For example, the 2005 (Intergalactic Circus) total may contain an outline of the rocket effigy, circus clowns in space-suits, or even references to camps/events that the artist designing the totem found particularly moving.

If you're interested in being part of the design process for one of the tiki totems, please reply to lancehunter@gmail.com and request which year you'd like to take. He'll then get back to you with more information.

The deadline to become part of this design process is April 5, next Saturday. DaFT will be able to help with any part of the design process you'd like, providing tools for cutting the totems, materials, and even labor.
