Area: Site Sign-Off
The Earth Guardian Lead is responsible for Leave No Trace and Sustainability education and action. For more information, refer to the Earth Guadians department.
Responsibilities and Tasks
This lead is expected to organize, recruit and motivate a teams of volunteers to accomplish three main activities. First and foremost the Earth Guardians will lead by example walking the event site in teams or individually collecting MOOP for proper disposal and discussing the problem of trash small and large. Second, the Earth Guardians educate and discuss the policy of Leave No Trace (LNT), what that means and how individuals and camps contribute to the solution and the problem. Third, the Earth Guardians educate regarding Sustainability: reducing packaging, reusing instead of replacing or discarding, recycling discards, energy consumption and planning around using less, using locally, carbon footprint and understanding energy efficiency. While primarily an education role the Earth Guardians are expected to demonstrate a "practice what we preach" leadership in these areas.
