HOWTO/Leads Selection

Leads Selection
Each year, Leads are chosen from the Flipside community to take on the operational tasks for the event. This is how the lead selection process occurs:
- Community volunteers will be chosen at Town Hall to be on the Lead Selection Committee: one volunteer per Area Facilitator.
- Within three weeks after Town Hall, the AFs will meet with the community volunteers to discuss all nominations. Ideally this will be a single meeting, but if necessary, can be broken into two parts.
- At the meeting, the Leads for that year will be chosen and ratified by the Committee.
- The AF's will present the LLC with their list of recommended Leads, and the LLC will finalize the list.
- AF's will then be responsible for contacting all chosen Leads in their area to offer them the position. Folks accepting should be reminded to keep quiet about it until an official announcement is sent to the list from the LLC.
- In the case a person declines the offer of the Lead position, the responsibility will then fall on the Area Facilitator to establish a new Lead, preferably the next-appropriate person nominated for the position.
- Once all leads are installed and the lists have been updated, the LLC will send out emails to Austin-Announce and Austin-list with a link to this year's organizational list.
- At the same time, the Area Facilitators should send out emails to folks not chosen for the Lead position to tell them that they have not been chosen for that Lead position this year, thanking them for their willingness to step-up, and to encourage them to try again next year. (Review this please, include better language/other considerations. An example of this email is shown here.)
- The Email Lists Lead will add all the new Leads to the Leads Email List and clear out the old Leads.
- The Communications Area Facilitator or someone in that role will give access to basecamp, this wiki, etc.
- Each lead page will be updated with the new information.
- Each lead will be directed to read the Lead's Guide page.
