On Volunteering

Thank you for your interest in volunteering to clean up Pyropolis 2010. This wiki has been organized to assist you in finding your position within our crew. There are 6 crews within clean-up: Camp Visiting, Theme Camp MOOP Crawl, Team GTFO, effigy burnscar restoration, Creek Commanders, and Last Call. Each crew has its own days, times, and tasks. With the assistance of this wiki, you will know before arriving what crew you have been assigned to, what materials you will need, and have an idea of the tasks you will perform.

Perks

  1. Stay late: It's true, volunteers often stay until Tuesday (noon) getting an extra day of work and a night of serious fun. Our volunteer appreciation party at Ice Monday night is typically pretty epic. If you plan to stay until Tuesday, pack your camp Monday, with the exception of of your necessities. Leave yourself NO MORE than an hour's worth of packing on Tuesday, and you will not be considered "lame".
  2. Update your wardrobe: Volunteers receive t-shirts to where proudly as a testament to our Leave No Trace philosophy.
  3. Play new games: Imagine all the public naughtiness you could have at Flipside if there wasn't a couple thousand people around. With only volunteers on site, mayhem is sure to ensue come nightfall.

It's our last night to burn stuff, and the effigy smolders all night. Make art and burn it on the effigy site! Some folks appreciate the opportunity to do this under this more intimate setting which is exactly what Monday night provides.

Camp Visiting

On Friday, Drive around with Sargent Face and talk to theme camps about our LNT expectations. Ask to speak to their camp's appointed Earth Guardian. Be sure Pyropolis knows to LNT and inform them of our recycling area and of our exodus expectations.

Theme Camp MOOP Crawl

On Saturday at 1pm, bring your MOOP bucket, empty cup, sunblock, and walking shoes and meet at the effigy. We are going to zombie crawl around Pyropolis, theme camp to theme camp, picking up MOOP and sharing our LNT philosophy at every theme camp bar we can make it to. I suggest you begin training to raise your consumption tolerance immediately.

Team GTFO

Team GTFO is made up of 4 different teams, 4 volunteers per team. Your goal is to "gently" encourage all participants at Flipside to leave the property on time. All 16 team members of Team GTFO are encouraged to take Ranger trainting. Only the lead of each of the 4 teams is required to complete Ranger training, and will be prepared for lead position expectations through Face online before the event.

Creek Commanders

You will insure the Creek is a MOOP free zone. Monday and Tuesday after the event, walk the creek (or another fun method of mobility) wrangling trash and anyhing else forgotten by Flipcitizens. Also, you will be checking in with ALL last minute swimmers to see they have packed their camp and are ready to leave the property per our Exodus requirements.

Effigy Burnscar Restoration

On Monday and Tuesday your duty will be to remove the burnscar where our effigy stood and prepare it for our return the following Saturday. Work along with DAFT removing any MOOP from the area. Crew members are encouraged to return the following Saturday to see the job through replanting flora. Wear your boots and gloves and bring plenty of sunscreen and water.

Earth Guardians

Thank you for volunteering for Pyropolis Earth Guardians 2010! This wiki is here to help you sign up for Recycling Camp crews and shifts and keep track of what you volunteered for.

We are going to provide recycling services to the citizens of Pyropolis again this year, and Earth Guardian volunteers man Recycling Camp and assist fellow Flipizens with their recycling needs.
