Flame Effects Seminars

Flame art is arguably the heart of burn events, and we are lucky enough to have one of the foremost experts of all things boosh right here in our local community! Tim Deagan has graciously offered to host several seminars to help introduce folk to the basics and next levels of making breathtaking fire art.

From Tim…

“Are you interested in learning how to build Booshes, Poofers, Flame Cannons or other propane vapor flame effects? Did you miss our last session at Lloyd the Warehouse? YOU’RE IN LUCK!

I’m Tim Deagan, author of Make: Fire, The Art and Science of Working With Propane, and we’re going to bootstrap as many Central Texas Burners as we can into the Art/Science/Sport of flame effects, starting with 2 more sessions at Lloyd.

These sessions are free and open to all, no need to RSVP. Come to Church Nite and check them out or engage in the plethora of other Church Nite activities!

– Wed. 2/7/24 7:30-9:30 during Church Nite, Flame Effects 101 at Lloyd the Warehouse: Come join an open-to-all free class that introduces the basic principles and construction techniques for a basic boosh (aka flame effect, poofer, flame cannon, etc..) During the class I’ll build a fully functioning boosh from individual parts while explaining important techniques, alternate approaches, and how to safely build/operate flame effects. We’ll even fire up the boosh at the end so people can get first hand experience seeing it operate up close.

– Wed 2/21/24 7:30 – 9:30 during Church Nite, Flame Effects 102 at Lloyd the Warehouse: In this free, open-to-all seminar we’ll discuss next-level topics in boosh (aka poofer, flame effect,) design and operation. In this session, we’ll dig into special concerns on pilot design, computer and interactive control, and how to keep enough pressure to boosh big. Special guests like Tim Alexander will discuss some of their amazing builds going over goals/challenges/solutions. Folks are also welcome to bring their effects for troubleshooting and brainstorming on improvements.
