New Year’s Ticket and Ignition Philter Art Grants Announce!

Howdy to everyone after what was hopefully a lovely season of well-wishes, gatherings, and resolutions to help just one more person understand what MOOP is.  Burning Flipside happens April 23-27 and we have critical ticket information to share, so let’s get started.

The Main Ticket Sale is OPEN!!!  Hopefully you remember your Secure password.  You have three weeks from today to complain about the ticket window being too short and a complete surprise AGAIN.  That’s Monday, January 26th.  And, yes, we know FreezerBurn is in the middle.  

NO PERSONAL CHECKS.  But last year’s credit card sale was so entertaining for me (y’all are a hoot and a half sending in money orders for your credit card purchases!).  Let’s try to get it sorted this year a little bit better.

  1. ONLY send in Money Orders if you register for a mail in ticket.
  2. The actual credit card payment link will come some time in late February.  
  3. No, you cannot donate to Ignition Philter through the credit card method…so do that here!
  4. No, you don’t need to mail in anything for credit card tickets, but the ticket opening team does enjoy decorated surprises for the pure heck of it.

USPS has officially confirmed that they don’t care about putting timely postmarks on envelopes, so get the overworked clerks to hand-stamp them in that last week, please and thank you!  Think of your envelope decorations as a stress relief for everyone in each step of the pipeline.

Art Grants Are Now Open!
Yeah, all that Ignition Philter action has to go somewhere and do something. Apply for funding assistance to bring your art to Flipside, through Ignition Philter. Applications close January 18th, so put on your oddly-warm weather thinking caps.

December Announce: Tickets, a party, STickets, and safety training

Howdy Flipsidians! We’ve got a lot of opportunities to participate, to create, and to enjoy each other’s own special brand of weirdness. Here’s a taste, below!

Tickets! More info coming soon, but here’s what we know: The ticket request window is January 5th – 26th, 2026, for registration and payment by money order. For more details on the whole process, visit https://www.burningflipside.com/event/tickets. Ticket prices are staying the same: $175 for teens and adults, age 14 and up, $40 for ages 7 – 13, children 0-6 are free (but DO REQUIRE a ticket). The maximum tickets per request are 2 adults and 2 minors (ages 0-17). More info to come! Watch this channel!

Join your friends at the Great Burnmas Bash, the all-inclusive central Texas burner community winter holiday party time this Friday, December 5, 7pm-1am at Lloyd. Last Call for Ticket RSVPs, Help, and Contributions! Details here! Interested in attending? Go NOW to reserve a ticket ($0-$30) to help us know what to order, food-wise. Want to help? Step in to assist with set-up, teardown, and door help! Bring warm clothes, a chair, a gift of something cool you don’t need anymore but someone may love, but mostly, bring yourself! STicket Contest Ending December 7! We have very few entries to determine the artwork for this year’s ticker and sticker. C’mon y’all, “ONE OF US” is a culty crafty creepy creative theme bursting with potential. And ONE OF US (well, two of us) will win the only free tickets to Flipside; This time they’ll know ahead of the ticket window! How neat is that? Go here to learn more and send in your entries. Judging the winner will be done at Church Night in person or online on December 10!

SAVE THE DATE for Safetyside, an intensive weekend-long training conference for Burning Flipside’s Safety volunteers, held March 27-29. Get ready for volunteer shifts with trainings that are good for one year across most Texas burns—including Echelon (radios!), Fire, Guardians (trespass prevention), Medical (aka “PETs”), Rangers (peacekeepers), Sanctuary (mental health first aid), Meteorology, and Sound Marshals. November Announce: Arts and Events Awareness

Good evening, Flipizonians and Flipizoids.  You are all One of Us and we have a lot to share, so let’s get to it.

TOMORROW November 5, 8pm-10pm: Tie Dye Workshop at Lloyd the Warehouse!  Be a better hippy by learning the art of dyeing clothes. Bring a small bucket without leaks and a cotton garment. Powder dye will be used, so protective masks or respirators are encouraged but not required. (FB event details).  

Austin Studio Tour – Help NeededArt is integral to Flipside. Our community has so many brilliant artists, and we’re excited to showcase their work! Check it all out at Lloyd the Wherehouse and all the details here and more on the Austin Studio Tour here. We need volunteers to help folks outside the Flipside community understand what we’re about. Shifts are November 8-9 and 15-16 and go from noon to 3pm and 3pm to 6pm both days. Hypothermia, November 14-16: The weekend camp out to train for volunteer shifts at FreezerBurn! Be prepared to help at the Central Texas burn that takes place each MLK Weekend in January. (Pro tip: The training is also good for Burning Flipside volunteer shifts!) Hypothermia registration, Facebook event, and more about FreezerBurn here.

November 19, 8pm-10pm: Bob Ross Paint-Along at Lloyd the Warehaus! Only you can create happy trees, clouds, rivers, and mountains.  There will be some materials to share, but please bring supplies if you can. (FB event details).

DaFT Effigy Deadline November 29: DaFT needs you! Submit your effigy ideas by November 29th, whether it be a concept, sketch, or fully fleshed plan. Need help? Check out effigy proposal guidelines, or email daft-proposal@lists.burningflipside.com. Please include a banana for scale.

STicket Contest is Open, and History is on Display: Speaking of art, we need it for the 2026 ticket and sticker! The contest was moved way up so the winners know they’ll have a free pair of tickets before the window opens in January. December 7 is the deadline to submit and December 10 we vote on the winners at Church Night! To help juice your ideas, we also posted an (incomplete) archive of past winners. Come help us fill in the gaps!

Great Burnmas Bash Planning, December 7, 7pm-1am: Burnmas is looking for decorations, performances, DJs, helpers for set up and break down. Reach out to genesis-af@burningflipside.org to participate. 2025 Fall Town Hall

Citizens of Pyropolis! Burning Flipside Fall Town Hall 2025 is here. ❤️‍🔥

The Combustion Chamber invites you to join in the fun on Saturday, September 27th at Lloyd the Warehouse! What the heck is that? https://www.burningflipside.com/24-7-360/warehouse

Tailgating and fraternizing starts at NOON and official Town Hall business, including theme voting, starts at 2:34PM.

This event is BYOWhatever You Need To Be Comfortable. Bring a chair, a beverage to share, a way to collect your cigarette butts, and a way to carry it all home with you when you go. Please bring water and whatever else you need to stay safe. Hat and sunscreen are never a bad idea in Texas. And, as always, Leave No Trace!

If you have a theme camp or art project to showcase or recruit volunteers for, or just a fun thing to share, feel free to set up a booth, art piece, or activity corner.

We’re always looking for volunteers to help setup and tear down structures. There will be an ADA porto-potty in the parking lot for those who cannot easily access the warehouse bathrooms or who do not wish to go inside.

The 4th of July flooding was catastrophic and there are still many in need. If you need help or want to help, check out these resources:

Area Facilitator Volunteer Openings

We’re opening up applications for two of our Area Facilitator (AF) roles: Art and Site Ops! AFs help coordinate the efforts of several departments whose work is related in some way.

Our Art AF helps support DaFT and other community artists in a variety of ways, including connecting people with corresponding skills and complementary ideas, organizing on-site logistics, giving input on art placement at the event, as well as hosting art shows and crafting nights at the warehouse.

Our Site Ops AF oversees many of the on-site logistics of the event, managing departments like Fuel, Power, Sanitation, Cartelle, and Ice; helping keep things running more smoothly than should ever be possible for a party in a field.

These roles both require some year-round work, although the bulk of it does tend to happen in the few months directly preceding Flipside. Both roles require the ability to monitor and respond in a timely fashion to both email and Slack messages, to attend the occasional meeting, and to coordinate the work of multiple leads.

October Art Show Coming Up

For no particular reason whatsoever, the theme for the 2025 Autumn Art Show @Lloyd will be Degenerate Art. Let’s lean into our Most Modern, weirdest, surrealist, and spectacularly strange. Make some art that leaves your mama wondering, “Who’s your DADA?” Out with the oldeau and in with the nouveau. Deco the halls and Bauhaus the Bassment. Make a lasting impression and express thyselves! It’s October 5th from 2-6pm at Lloyd the Warehouse, free and open for all ages. Learn more here or here (Facebook).

We are still working on the specific date for the next Town Hall, but it is usually the last weekend in September, so consider ya’ll heads-upped.

NEW! Safety 3rd Wednesday Church Nights!

Whether you’re missing your Safety family or even just Safety curious, come on down to the Flipside Warehouse on the third Wednesday of each month for a special Church Night. We’ll start around 7pm and end whenever the crowd goes home.

On May 21, join us for our kick-off event of the season! Come out just to socialize, or come ready to share your favorite experience from this Flipside, or a tall tale. (And if you’ve got ideas for future themes or focuses for future Safety Third Wednesdays, whether they’re artsy, games/scenarios, trainings, etc., come ready to share those too!)

Bring whatever you want to eat, drink, or share. Hope to see you there! Wear your department shirts/swag/colors if you want…or not!

Load-In Is Saturday!

This Saturday we need help bringing infrastructure back from the land to the warehouse & to clean up the burn scar, MOOP, & camp placements. Meet at the land at 10am & be ready for any weather!

We also need help unloading at the warehouse, likely starting around 1pm. Stay tuned! Watch social media or this post for updates.

UPDATE 5/3 9:26am

The trucks are on the way to the land. Come out and help the community bring our stuff back!

UPDATE 11:18am Moar hands needed. It’s a lovely day and not that muddy. Burn scar cleanup, MOOP pickup, shade structure tear down, let’s go!

UPDATE 12:19pm The first truck is leaving the land, we will need folks at the warehouse in about an hour to help unload.

UPDATE 1:25pm Second truck is leaving for the wearhouse.

UPDATE 1:39pm Third truck is more than halfway finished, anyone willing to help should skip the land and go to the wherehaus.

Get home & unpack safely. And PLEASE get consent from identifiable people in your pics & vids before posting! Respect participant privacy!

Load-Out Trucks Updates

It’s Load-Out day and the trucks are ad eager to get this done as we are. Cone to the wherehaus now, no need to wait for 10am. We’ll update this page with fresh info as the day progresses.

10:55am – The trucks are more than half loaded! If you’re debating on coming to the warehouse or going to the land, go to the land.

12:50pm – The wearhouse work is done, come to the land. Many hands = fewer sad faces and backs. Sign a waiver at the crossroads and come to Safety HQ for further instructions.

2:30pm – The trucks are mostly unloaded. Now for shade structure drop-off, DaFTing in mysterious ways, and department pile sorting.

3:45pm – Light rain is happening but everything is tarped. Shade parts drop-off, DaFT, and city signs are happening. However, don’t worry about leaving now to help. Continue if you’re en route, but we’re past the worst of it.
